Set in 2,000 acres of land Smithills Hall is one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West of England. The buildings include Tudor and Victorian wings, in addition to the Medieval Hall, and a private Chapel. You can see inside most of the rooms which have decor and furniture of the period.

The Man & Scythe Pub
One of the oldest pubs in England the Man & Scythe is first mentioned in a charter in 1251.
Reputedly to be haunted it serves a mean pint of Scrumpy as well as spirits.

Nowhere can illustrate better just how beautiful the area to the North of Bolton is than Rivington Gardens. Built by the soap magnate Lord Leverhulme as a spectacular venue for him to relax in, there's a man-made ravine and cascade, a Japanese Garden and lake, an Italian Garden, a lake and the former Orchestra Lawn.
